Floating Oil Skimmers

Floating Weir Skimmer-Surface Decanter

This is a simple floating well-proven industrial oil skimmer that works with any pump that can pull suction. The unique FWS never needs manual adjustment. NEVER! The FWS Floating Weir Skimmer is automatically self adjusting to your pump’s flow rate—meaning that by controlling your pump’s flow rate—you adjust the skim or cut off the surface from 1/32″ to over 1-1/4″— automatically!
ASH Pond Surface Skimmer (APSS)
Our floating weir skimmers (FWS) originally designed as surface oil skimmers, simply drain an area from the top down and remove whatever is flowable on/from the waters surface. In the ash ponds we found that the FWS with their laminar flow-do a great job of removing surface water without stirring up all the stuff under the water surface.

Floating Drum Oil Skimmer

These drum skimmers are the most efficient and the most selective floating skimmers available anywhere, due to the large surface area that is exposed to the floating oil. Easy to install and operate. Drum skimmers need only 3″ of water to float in.
Steel Industry Oil Skimmer (SIS)
In the steel industry, oil in and on water is a constant. Bless these steel guys. By the very nature of their operations, oil gets spilled or leaked regularly, resulting in lots of floating oil and it needs to be removed.
The steel mill oil skimming applications are the toughest. The equipment has to be rugged and simple enough to run without any attention or maintenance.

Automatic Floating Weir Oil Skimmer

The Auto-Skimmer removes floating oils from pits, tanks, storm water collection tanks or sumps. Perfect for non-point source floating oil removal such as monitoring wells, bypasses, scale pits, runway runoff, maintenance yards, mining applications, and API separators or any still water surface. Operating conditions can be monitored remotely making this oil skimmer ideal for inaccessible locations.
Floating Grinder Skimmer
This self-contained skimmer and grinder pump combination system can be used for skimming or removing all types of floating stuff including oil. The grinder skimmer is a derivative of our regular floating weir skimmer—except with VERY sharp teeth.

Floating Debris Surface Skimmer

Our Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) is often used to skim or remove floating stuff from the waters surface. The FWS acts like a waterfall—-and anything floating and flow-able on the surface gets caught in the current going across the weir-or waterfall. The current or flow is created by your pump removing the fluid (water or oil or?) from the skimmers built in sump. The faster the water is moving across the weir—the more and heavier stuff it can carry. You can adjust that speed or velocity by controlling your pumps flow rate. Removes what is floating on the water near it, oil, plastic scraps, algae, floc, flyash, duckweed etc.

Industrial skimmers are used extensively in the steel, manufacturing, and petroleum industries as well as power plants across the world.

OIL SKIMMERS AND OIL WATER SEPARATORS

Fixed Oil Skimmers

Rope Mop Wringer Oil Skimmer
This can be an industrial workhorse and works very well where there are few solids involved. This one gets hard mounted and can easily run unattended. The wringer unit rotates a mop loop (looks like a squirrel tail) across the water and floating oil surface, sometimes around a fixed pulley, and back to the unit where the mop runs through squeeze rollers and oil is wrung out/removed.

Belt Oil Skimmer

Belt skimmers lift and remove unwanted floating tramp oils from the surface of metalworking coolants, parts washing machines, pressure spray operations, oil leakage pits, wastewater, and water treatment tanks, pits, sumps and wells. These require no pumps. These are selective skimmers that give you almost oil only with very little water to deal with.

Big Ass Belt Oil Skimmer (BABS)

Belt skimmers: Need a tough reliable high quality industrial grade oil skimmer? SkimOil’s Big ASS Belt Skimmer (BABS) is a VERY heavy duty belt skimmer designed to survive severe service conditions. These rugged high recovery rate skimmers are available with 8, 12 & 24” wide belts.

Tube Type Oil Skimmer

Skimoil’s Fishboy Oil Skimmers use our specially formulated FishTube collector tube that is sized in length for the application and welded into a continuous loop. FishTube collector tube floats on the surface of water and is driven in a continuous loop by the skimmer. Oils, fats, and grease cling to the outside surface of the tube and are drawn into the skimmer. The material drawn into the skimmer is scraped off by abrasive resistant Dureon® scrapers and flows into a sludge pan with drain coupling. The clean tube is then driven back to the surface of the water by the skimmer to remove more material.

Monitoring Well belt Skimmer

The Monitoring Well Belt Skimmers are often used for remediation jobs to recover oil, diesel or gasoline sitting on top of the water table, often at spill sites or where leaking underground storage tanks (LUST) have been removed.Oil and hydrocarbons are attracted to belts by surface tension, then lifted up and scraped off the belt. The collected oil flows by gravity down a chute or trough to the collection device.

Remote Location? No Power? No AC? Run our monitoring/recovery well belt skimmers on battery power.
Now available with 12VDC gearmotors.

Slotted Pipe – C-Pipe Oil Skimmer

Rotary Pipe Automatic Oil Skimmers set the standard for industrial strength oil skimming years ago. And these Slotted Pipe – C Pipe Oil Skimmers are used in many API separators , steel mills and refineries. The Rotating Pipe Skimmers have an open part of the pipe that is turned up/and or above the water level when skimming is not needed, then that C-shaped pipe is rotated down to water/oil level when skimming is desired.

Floating Tripod Skimmer (FTS)

The TriSKimmer (TSK) is an old well proven design of floating weir oil or surface skimmer that can work in lots of industrial and spill situations. With 3 separate floats tied together by the framework and central round funnel weir, this is a very stable oil skimmer and easy to keep floating flat or level.

Sheen-Skimmer (FSS)

The Sheen-Skimmer is a small industrial grade oil skimmer for recovering light lube oils, diesel and sheen. It can be run off of low voltage power source like a car or boat battery or be plugged into a 110V/220V outlet. It’s quiet and small and can go almost anywhere.

Moon Pool Oil Skimmer System (MPS)

Our moon pool skimmer and separator systems can keep you in compliance. These are usually relatively low flow dedicated systems including our Floating Weir Skimmers, hose sets and our BRUTE marine oil water separator which meets all IMO ? MEPC 107 (49) requirements. These compact compete systems will fit most anywhere and arrive ready to install and put into operation right away. Verified clean water discharge. IMO / MEPC 107 (49) compliant.

Fracking Oil Removal System

The Frack Pack is a dedicated surface oil removal system that removes oil from the waters surface, but also separates the skimmed oily water into free oil and simply water. The Frack Pack consists of the Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) and Brute Oil Water Separator System (OWS). We can also furnish the pump and hoses needed so you can have a complete turn key skimming system “The Frack Pack”.Our Frack Pack oil skimmer and separator system is designed specifically for the fracking industry. We know your tanks and we know about your oil troubles.

SteelHAWG Floating Drum Skimmer

The unique SteelHawg air powered drum skimmer floats on the surface and the drum rotates into and thru the oil and grease on the surface. The drum attracts and holds oil onto it’s surface and rotates around—-where there is a scraper blade-that shaves the oil or grease off the drum——-where it can then flow or even fall into the special trough or collection tray that is slanted toward the hose connection drain. The tray/trough has steam or hot water tracing pipes on it’s bottomside—–which heats the tray floor—-warming the oil/grease so it can flow to the drain where it gets pumped away.

CNC Oil Skimmers

Oil skimming for industrial purposes (except the steel industry*) and inland waters spill response is generally done by one of the two following methods:

1. Selective oil skimming— exposes an oil attracting plastic or metal (i.e. belt, drum, disc, tube or rope mop) to the oil on the surface of the water. Usually motor driven, this media once coated with oil, is then wiped, wrung or scraped off for transfer of oil by gravity draining or by pumping to storage. This method is highly selective & delivers relatively little water with the oil When these selective skimmers are running in wall to wall oil, they will actually pull the oil into the skimmer, much like you could pull a carpet across the room. These skimmers must be in oil to work!

2. Gravity oil skimming- is done by taking advantage of the difference in specific gravity between oil and water. Most oils are lighter than and float on water. Gravity oil skimming includes adjustable standpipes, fixed overflow weirs and floating weir oil skimmers like those pictured here. Gravity oil skimming can also remove scum, floc, vegetation like seaweed and algae, foam and some floating junk. All gravity oil skimmers are overflow weirs. We can also set up gravity oil skimmers to skim below the surface! Floating weir oil skimmers can be installed almost anywhere you have the room, hook a hose to it, put it in the water and start pumping liquid from the skimmer.

If you need oil skimmers—get a look here, BUT don’t try to figure this out on your own!
